The Melbourne Pavillion hosted the return match of Robert Trigg v Mark Quon for the vacant ANBF Australian Bantamweight title on Saturday 13th August. In their previous encounter at the same venue on the 21st of May, Mark Quon lost in a unanimous decision.
In the first 2 rounds Robert Trigg seemed the busiest boxer concentrating on getting in close and forcing the contest into a war, he gave Mark no space to use his pugilistic skills. Robert Trigg continued to bullock Mark Quon through-out rounds 4, 5 and 6.
Mark Quon started to use his boxing skills in Round 7 holding centre ring and utilising his left jab to effect.
In Round 9 both boxers were warned for head clashes as Mark Quon was cut over his left eye.
In the final round Robert Trigg dropped Mark Quon to the canvass to score a 10-8 round.
Mark Quon rose from the canvass but in the end Robert Trigg took the Australian Title in a strong performance.
